- US SECURE FLIGHT INFORMATION
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is finalising plans for the US Secure Flight Program that requires Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) for all air travellers flying within, into, out of and over the United States. The purpose of Secure Flight is to enhance the current security of air travel through the use of improved government watch list matching. As a consequence the following essential information must now be placed in all affected passenger bookings so Air New Zealand can transmit this essential information to the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Passenger full legal name (as per passport) Passenger gender Passenger date of birth Air New Zealand will be required to provide this data for all passengers on flights to/from/via and within the USA from November 2010 at least 72 hours before the departure of the flight.
- ELIMINATION OF I94W ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE FOR VISA WAIVER PROGRAM TRAVEL
Following a successful seven-month pilot program conducted with the support of the Government of New Zealand on Air New Zealand flights from Auckland to Los Angeles International Airport, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that the use of paper I-94W forms will be eliminated for Visa Waiver Program (VWP) travellers with an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) arriving in the United States at all airports by the end of this US summer.
